Ediz Hun draws attention to the limited roles for older actors in the industry
Renowned actor Ediz Hun has criticized the industry, stating that older artists are often relegated to limited roles.

Attending the Düzce Konuralp International Film Festival, Ediz Hun highlighted the challenges faced by older actors in the film industry. Hun stated that scripts are mostly written for younger actors, a situation that pushes experienced artists away from cinema.
Hun pointed out that actors over 70, such as Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, still take on lead roles, whereas in Turkey, older artists are often confined to limited roles such as 'uncle,' 'father,' or 'grandfather.' He expressed that this situation stems from the industry focusing solely on the domestic market.
Ediz Hun emphasized that the roles offered to him are insufficient, stating that he wants to portray more profound characters. 'I would like to play roles such as a professor struggling with difficulties in his profession or an adult coping with an illness,' he said.
THE YEŞİLÇAM ERA AND ADVICE TO THE YOUTH
Hun stated that at 79, he took to the theater stage and memorized a 68-page play, noting that this requires discipline, willpower, and responsibility. Emphasizing that education is important not only for one's profession but also for character development, Hun gave the message: 'Being a good person is the greatest success; do not stray from honesty.'
Describing the Yeşilçam era as 'difficult but passionate days,' Ediz Hun stated that the disciplined work ethic of that period should serve as an example for the youth. Saying that he never broke away from cinema despite the difficulties he encountered throughout his artistic life, Hun advised young people: 'Be patient, be open to learning, and work with discipline. This is the path to success.'
