Electricians warn! Never do this

Concealing cables to achieve an aesthetic look in home decoration can create major dangers without you realizing it. Electrical safety expert Reşat Çetintürk stated that this habit carries serious fire risks.

Çetintürk expressed that hiding cables behind bookshelves, under carpets, or painting over outlets are common mistakes. He emphasized that such practices can block cable ventilation, leading to overheating and the deterioration of insulation. He stated that this situation can lead to electrical malfunctions, melting outlets, and even house fires.

Stating that this risk increases even further in the summer months with the use of high-energy-consuming devices such as portable air conditioners and chargers, Çetintürk noted that compressed cables can create a bomb-like effect waiting for a spark.

Furthermore, Çetintürk pointed out that attempts by untrained individuals to perform electrical repairs can also pose great dangers. He stated that situations such as overloading extension cords and daisy-chaining plug adapters also carry serious risks.

Çetintürk's recommendations for electrical safety are as follows: Cables should remain visible and free, outlets should not be painted, extension cords should not be overloaded, and a qualified electrician must be consulted when repairs are needed.
