Sunlight bar soap, one of the world's most recognized cleaning products, has been permanently removed from shelves following a decision by Henkel to cease production, despite its deep-rooted history in the industry. With this decision, the product has completely sold out in physical stores; it continues to be sold only in limited quantities at high prices on some international online shopping platforms.

The discontinuation of Sunlight Pure Soap has directly affected certain communities and crafts, particularly in Canada. The disappearance of the bar soap, which has been the preferred primary material for leatherworking for centuries, has left traditional leather artisans in a difficult position. These artisans express concern that the sustainability of the methods they have mastered is now in doubt.

Following Henkel's decision, many artisans, especially indigenous groups in Canada, are struggling to find alternative products. Leatherworkers committed to tradition express their distress, stating, "We used only this soap in our leather tanning process." The absence of the soap also brings about a new crisis in the transfer of knowledge and traditions in this field.

On the other hand, the absence of Sunlight is also forcing a change in cleaning habits due to the soap's longevity and versatility. The brand had been preferred in many areas from the kitchen to personal hygiene since the 19th century. Now, Sunlight Pure Soap takes its place in history as a nostalgic product.
