Nagehan Alçı had joined the debate on violence against women that began following comments made by actress Farah Zeynep Abdullah on the anniversary of director and actor Yılmaz Güney's death.

Alçı, who said, "What has been written against him regarding violence is true. These have been written many times," added, "However, the reason for the attack campaign against Güney that started with Farah Zeynep in this current climate is that Güney is Kurdish. That is the essence of the matter."

Quoting Alçı's words on the X platform, Abdullah wrote, "No, it's because he's an Aries, don't exaggerate."

WHAT HAPPENED?

On the anniversary of Yılmaz Güney's death, author Murathan Mungan shared a post saying, "It is the 37th anniversary of Yılmaz Güney's death. Besides being a good director, a good actor, and a good screenwriter, he was the best-walking man in our cinema. No one else could touch the deepest part of our souls while looking with sadness by tilting their neck slightly to the side like he did."

Responding to Mungan on social media, Farah Zeynep Abdullah stated, "Let's say the best-walking man of our cinema, and a woman-beater, and rich in terms of types of violence, and an effective user of weapons."

Reacting to these remarks, Yılmaz Güney's family said, "We will use all our legal rights." In response, Farah Zeynep Abdullah made a jab, saying, "Okay, but no shooting the judge."
