Pianist and composer Fazıl Say made statements on his social media account regarding the attacks that took place in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa. Evaluating the incidents as a social issue, Say stated that there are serious deficiencies, particularly in terms of security.
Say used the following expressions in his post:
"These children, who watch violence all day in TV series, media, and social media, have become the ones who perpetrate violence and brutality.
What happened at the school in Maraş today is grave. It is a tragedy. It is a mindless massacre that symbolizes a social crisis and ignorance... There should have been ministers and officials today who discussed their shortcomings, mistakes, and all the security issues they were late to address with themselves, accepted their faults, and resigned. The state should have even filed lawsuits against them... Where are they? Instead of using police force to stop protesting teachers, they should have looked in the mirror once in their lives and asked themselves: which mother or father will send their child to school tomorrow? And for what?"
These children, who watch violence all day in TV series, media, and social media, have become the ones who perpetrate violence and brutality.
