Theater artist and presenter Kenan Işık, who had been in a coma for 10 years following a brain hemorrhage, has passed away at the age of 76. Many politicians and prominent figures from the art community attended the ceremony held for Işık.

Kenan Işık, who had been receiving treatment for a time at the Schmieder Rehabilitation Center in Germany, passed away this morning at the Istanbul Başkent University Hospital.
Regarding Işık's passing, the Film Industry and All Artists Empowerment Foundation (Film-San) stated on social media, "We wish God's mercy upon Turkish theater, television, and film actor Kenan Işık, and extend our condolences to his family and loved ones."
One of the artist's close friends, Ozan Zeybek, also announced his passing by sharing a photo of himself with Kenan Işık on his Instagram account.
Actor Ali Sunal also posted, "We couldn't get enough of you, dear Kenan brother; I am glad I knew you, confided in you, joked with you, and shared the stage with you. Rest in peace."

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wished mercy upon the late artist Kenan Işık.
In a post on his social media account, Erdoğan stated, "I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the very valuable theater and voice actor, presenter, and journalist, Mr. Kenan Işık. I wish God's mercy upon the late Kenan Işık; I extend my condolences to his family, his loved ones, and our entire art and media community. May he rest in peace."

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel wished mercy upon the late artist Kenan Işık.
In a message shared on his social media account, Özel stated, "I wish God's mercy upon our master artist Kenan Işık, whose passing I learned of with sadness, and I extend my condolences to his family and our art world."

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that the works and performances of the artist Kenan Işık, who passed away in Istanbul, will serve as a guide for future generations.
Emphasizing that Işık won hearts with his art, knowledge, and respectable stance, Ersoy noted the following:
"Kenan Işık made great contributions to Turkish cultural life. The works and performances of Işık, who also served as an actor and director in our State Theaters for many years, will serve as a guide for future generations. TO BE LAID TO REST ON JULY 31
The funeral of the late theater artist and presenter Kenan Işık will be held on July 31. Kenan Işık's funeral will be buried in Karşıyaka Cemetery following the funeral prayer to be held after the noon prayer at the Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque in Ankara on Wednesday, July 31.
FUNERAL CEREMONY HELD AT THE AKM
Many artists and politicians attended the funeral ceremony held for Işık at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM). In addition to historian Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, actor Zafer Algöz, and theater actor Ahmet Yenilmez, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and General Manager of City Theaters Tamer Karadağlı also attended the ceremony. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was also among those who commemorated Işık.

Emphasizing that Işık's gentlemanliness, as well as his artistry, will not be forgotten, İmamoğlu remarked, "Another aspect of his was his journalism, but a very special side of him was that he served this city and provided services to our beautiful city by undertaking the General Art Directorship of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters. We hoped to receive good news from him during the brain hemorrhage he suffered ten years ago and the subsequent process. I am sure the prayers of millions of our people were with him, but unfortunately, we all received the news that he has left us. I heartily thank him for all the beauty he added to our lives to this day."

WHO IS KENAN IŞIK?
Born Yusuf Kenan Işık, he was born on October 1, 1947, in Malatya. Işık, who began acting in the school theater during his secondary education years, joined the Meydan Sahnesi in Ankara, where he went for his high school education.
Starting his studies at the Gazi University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration, Işık never broke away from the theater during his student years and became a State Theater artist in 1972.
In addition to theater acting, the master figure, who also worked as a general art director for City Theaters and as a screenwriter, also took part in various television series.
Kenan Işık, who also worked as a journalist for a period, won the appreciation of the audience with the competition program titled "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire". Işık had suffered a brain hemorrhage 10 years ago after feeling unwell, losing his balance, and hitting his head on the ground.
