Erzurum is facing freezing cold weather, with thermometers dropping as low as -21 degrees. The cold weather, which has continued to be effective following snowfall, showed -21 degrees in the city center in the morning hours and dropped to -25 degrees at night. While trees in the Erzurum Plain were covered in white frost, the surface of the Karasu River froze.
According to the forecasts of the 12th Regional Directorate of Meteorology, the weather across the region will start as partly and slightly cloudy, and will become very cloudy over time.
In addition to local fog and mist, icing and frost events are expected during the morning and night hours. Experts emphasize that caution should be exercised against the danger of avalanches on steep slopes with high snow cover.
Municipal and highway teams continue their efforts to keep traffic open, especially in rural areas. According to meteorological forecasts, snowfall will continue in Erzurum for the next 2 days.
