WHO IS MELİKE ŞAHİN?
Melike Şahin was born on April 18, 1989, in Istanbul. Originally from Divriği, Şahin has had a great interest in music since her childhood and has lived a life intertwined with music. Taking vocal lessons from Timur Selçuk at the Contemporary Music Center during her high school years, Melike Şahin strengthened her bond with music at an early age.
Graduating from the Sociology department of Boğaziçi University in 2012, Şahin focused on her music career after her university years. Having been a vocalist in the band Baba Zula until 2017, Melike Şahin started a project she named "Melikşah ve Saz Arkadaşları" before leaving the band. With this project, she gave arabesque-themed concerts at a tavern called Kanto in Beyoğlu.
Melike Şahin's international success peaked in 2017 with three songs she performed in the film "Djam" by French director Tony Gatlif. That same year, she gave a concert at the Cannes Film Festival before the film's world premiere. This performance was an important turning point in her career.
Stepping into her solo career in 2017 with the singles "Bi' Fırlatsam" and "Deli Kan," Melike Şahin met with music lovers in 2021 with her first solo album, "Merhem." The first single from the album was "Uykumun Boynunu Bükme," released in January 2021.
