The best of the television and music world received their awards at the 50th Pantene Golden Butterfly Awards ceremony held this year.
The awards ceremony was hosted by Çağla Şıkel and Cem Davran.
Cem Davran became a trending topic on social media with the speech he gave at the awards ceremony.
Touching upon the incidents of child abuse and violence against women in Turkey, Cem Davran addressed families.
Here is Cem Davran's speech, which received applause:
"What needed to be said has been said. You know I don't mince my words on these matters; I say exactly what is in my heart. A lot has been said, but after seeing Narin's photo, let me tell you something at this age that I have been feeling for a very long time.
I was truly among the hopeful, but I am about to cross over to the side of the hopeless. I am ashamed of my manhood when I see such events. I swear to you."
We cannot resolve this issue... We cannot protect our children, our girls, our women, our young women. Yet, my mother did not raise me this way... I say this with sincerity.
For example, I have 2 sons. One is 32, the other is 27. From the very first moment, that is, from the first moment we started talking, what we have said is 'never, never, let alone words or anything else... You will not show any rudeness, not even with an attitude, not even with a look, to your girlfriend, your lover, your wife...'
We raised them this way, but some men emerged from the side of some mothers and made me ashamed of my manhood. I think I am starting to become one of the hopeless now.
I hope I am feeling wrong. Let us improve... I beg you, let us protect our girls, our Narins. Please, let us give them freedom."
Taking the floor after Cem Davran, Çağla Şıkel stated the following:
"As Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said, children are our future, our joy of living. I wish for days where our joy of living is not taken away from us."
