At the ceremony attended by prominent figures from the worlds of art and politics, Önder’s funeral was brought to the Levent Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque following a memorial event at the AKM. The emotional moments of his friend Yılmaz Erdoğan by the coffin and İbrahim Tatlıses’s words, "He was a man among men," left their mark on the ceremony.

Önder, who was hospitalized after an aortic dissection, lost his life after an 18-day struggle for survival in intensive care. The news of his death caused deep sorrow in both the political and artistic communities.
Sırrı Süreyya Önder's funeral brought together important names from the worlds of politics and art. Yılmaz Erdoğan and İbrahim Tatlıses were among those who attended the ceremony. It did not go unnoticed that Tatlıses attended the ceremony in a wheelchair.
