Important statement from MESAM regarding Ferdi Tayfur's works! 'Those who want to sing his songs...'
Recep Ergül, President of the Musical Work Owners' Professional Union (MESAM), responded to the debates regarding whether the songs of master artist Ferdi Tayfur could be used without permission following his passing.

Ferdi Tayfur, the legendary name of Arabesque music, passed away at the age of 79 due to kidney failure. Following the master artist's death, his total fortune has been a subject of discussion for a long time.
It had been claimed that the 3 billion TL inheritance allegedly left by Tayfur would be divided among his 5 siblings.
On the other hand, the master artist's works have also become a subject of curiosity. Recep Ergül, President of the Musical Work Owners' Professional Union (MESAM), made a statement regarding the discussions on whether Tayfur's songs could be used without permission.
Recalling that Tayfur had stated in an interview years ago, "I will write a petition to MESAM and anyone who wants to will be able to sing my songs without getting permission," Recep Ergül noted that no such written application had reached their organization.
"PERMISSION FROM LEGAL HEIRS IS MANDATORY"
Making a statement on MESAM's YouTube channel, Ergül used the following expressions:
"Even though Ferdi Tayfur had a statement that anyone who wishes could freely sing his songs, there is no petition reaching MESAM in this direction. Therefore, individuals who want to interpret the artist's works must obtain permission from his legal heirs. Otherwise, they may face both pecuniary and non-pecuniary compensation lawsuits."
CONDEMNED THE DISPUTES AT THE FUNERAL
Touching upon the unpleasant incidents that occurred at Ferdi Tayfur's funeral ceremony, Ergül expressed his reaction with these words:
"At the funerals of famous and wealthy people, some individuals turn into 'funeral clowns.' I strongly condemn these people who exhibit malicious behaviors such as trying to appear in front of cameras or taking photos with celebrities."
Taking a firm stance against criticisms directed at the artist's music and personality, Ergül emphasized that they would provide full support to Ferdi Tayfur's family.
