Social media influencer Nihal Candan (real name Gülnihal Candan), who was arrested in 2023 on charges of fraud and money laundering, developed anorexia nervosa (refusal to eat) during her time in prison.
When Candan was released on April 26, 2024, due to health issues, she weighed only 37 kilograms.
However, the expected recovery did not occur after her release. Growing weaker by the day, Candan fell ill yesterday and was rushed to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Zincirlikuyu. It was learned that examinations revealed signs of multiple organ failure.
29.5 KILOGRAMS
Renowned fashion designer Pınar Kerimoğlu provided information regarding Nihal Candan's health status and made a statement to her fans. Stating that "her family wanted me to share this," Kerimoğlu said that Nihal Candan's weight had dropped to 29.5 kilograms. While this statement became a trending topic on social media, her fans continue to wait with concern.
"HER HEART STOPPED TWICE"
In a statement to the press regarding Nihal's condition, the Candan family stated that their daughter's heart had stopped twice and that she is at serious risk of death. Her sister, Bahar Candan, said that her older sister is going through very difficult days and asked everyone to pray for her to hold on to life.
Bahar and Nihal Candan's mother, Umut Candan, said the following in a tearful statement:
"I don't know if a psychiatrist or a psychologist will help anymore. I have no door left to turn to other than God. My child only drinks soda and coffee. She doesn't eat, she doesn't drink. I couldn't get through to her. She is a very kind-hearted child, but she has brought herself to this state. Please, someone help; I just want her to start eating again. I am praying that she finds healing soon and returns to her life."
