Nihal Candan's father speaks out: 'I will keep Bahar away from the world of fame'

Hakan Candan, the father of social media influencer Nihal Candan, who passed away last week at the hospital where she was receiving treatment for anorexia nervosa, has broken his silence following his profound grief. Describing the change his daughters experienced with fame and his own responsibility, Candan shared what he went through during this process.

'MY CHILDREN LOST THEIR WAY WHEN THEY ENTERED THE WORLD OF FAME'

Stating that his daughters were swept away by fame, Hakan Candan said, 'My children, who came from a civil servant family like ours, lost their way when they entered the world of fame.' He expressed that his daughters felt forced to play roles even though they did not belong in that world, and that Nihal was negatively affected by this situation.

'THE RESPONSIBILITY IS OURS'

Accepting his own responsibility, Candan said, 'The primary responsibility for the mistakes my children made lies with them, but the secondary responsibility is ours. I could not instill enough moral values, I could not protect them from this environment. I failed.' he said.

'IT WAS NOT HER TRUE CHARACTER'

Stating that Nihal Candan took on a different identity with fame, father Candan said, 'If my daughter hadn't become famous, she wouldn't have experienced these things. The roles they played for fame were not their true characters. What you saw in competitions and on social media were fictional characters. This fiction dazed my daughter, and in the end, she collapsed when she faced reality.' he said.

'I WILL KEEP BAHAR AWAY'

Stating that he will do his best to protect his other daughter, Bahar Candan, from the harms of fame, Hakan Candan said, 'We are more careful after this incident. I will keep Bahar away from the world of fame, I will take her away from Istanbul. I will do whatever is necessary to protect her from this environment.' he stated.
