Occupancy rate in Istanbul dams approaches 80 percent

The occupancy rate of dams in Istanbul has shown a significant increase with recent rainfall. The occupancy rate at Alibeyköy Dam rose from 6.27 percent to 65.05 percent, with some wire fences remaining underwater. The occupancy rates across Istanbul were measured at 79.85 percent.

Following the cold weather wave that affected Istanbul, the increase in dam occupancy rates continues with days of snowfall.

In measurements conducted by İSKİ, the occupancy rate in Istanbul's dams was recorded at 79.85 percent.

WIRE FENCES REMAIN UNDERWATER

Alibeyköy Dam also benefited from the rapid rise in Istanbul's dams. The occupancy rate at Alibeyköy Dam rose to 65.05 percent. The occupancy rate at the dam had previously dropped to 6.27 percent last October.

The rapid rise in the dam lake basin has refilled areas that were once completely dry and could be driven over by car. It was observed that some of the wire fences built to protect the lake were submerged in certain areas of the dam lake.

94.54 PERCENT IN ELMALI, 92.15 PERCENT IN ÖMERLİ

The occupancy rate at Elmalı Dam, which supplies water to Istanbul, reached 94.54 percent. The occupancy rate in the Ömerli Dam lake basin, one of the important dams supplying water especially to the Anatolian side, was measured at 92.15 percent.

In the Terkos Dam lake basin, where the occupancy rate had once dropped to the 20 percent level, the occupancy rate was measured at 80.62 percent.
