In a report published in a newspaper under the headline "Everything is beautiful for them," Barım receiving MediaCat's "Women Who Make a Difference Award" was linked to the fact that MediaCat owner Pelin Özkan is the wife of Necati Özkan, an advisor to Ekrem İmamoğlu.
As reported by Sözcü, the news article included the phrase "Kavala extensions are at work," emphasizing that another award recipient, Ayşe Zarakol, is the daughter of Necla Zarakol, a former executive of TESEV.
