Serenay Sarıkaya speaks out for Ayşe Barım

Talent manager Ayşe Barım, who had been in the spotlight over allegations of monopolization in the acting industry but was later detained as part of the Gezi Park investigation reopened years later, had been arrested on charges of "aiding in an attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey."

Appearing before a judge for the first time after 162 days, Barım could not hold back her tears while presenting her defense and stated the following:

"I have not attempted or aided in anything aimed at destroying the Republic of Turkey... Before I was brought here, I was diagnosed with a very serious heart condition and a brain aneurysm. Six separate diseases were detected in my heart. I am struggling to survive in extremely unhealthy conditions... I want my right to life back. My honor, my reputation, and my right to life have all been taken from me. I trust in your justice and your conscience."

Famous names flocked to the first hearing of the case. Figures such as Serenay Sarıkaya, Halit Ergenç, and Bergüzar Korel were also present.

In the interim decision, it was ruled that Barım would remain in custody, and the next hearing will be held in October.

Serenay Sarıkaya, one of the actors managed by Barım, made a striking post for her on her social media account.

Sharing a story on her Instagram account, Sarıkaya wrote: "A piece that explains everything beautifully, from the punctuation to the content. It is truly an injustice that defies reason and conscience that she is being forced to endure this—when it is obvious she has committed no crime, and she is being made to pay such a heavy price simply because she was doing her job and because, as a woman, she was able to be so strong and successful on her own for all these years.

Ayşe Barım must be released because she has committed no crime and so that she can regain her health before anything worse happens. Her right to life must be restored."
