Nihal Candan was arrested in November 2023 along with her sister Bahar Candan on charges of 'fraud' and 'money laundering.' Diagnosed with anorexia while in prison, Candan was released in April 2024 due to her health condition.
However, as her illness progressed, Candan was recently admitted to intensive care, and the young woman, who had dropped to 23 kilograms, passed away last night.
Following the death of Nihal Candan, İrem Derici made an emotional post on her Instagram account. Derici stated, 'It was easy, wasn't it? She's gone just like that… Only her family will mourn her. You are so heartless that you couldn't understand the final stage of suicide. Nihal is happy now. I barely overcame this, and perhaps I still haven't fully overcome it.'
İrem Derici also shared a photo with her followers from the period in 2017 when she was receiving treatment for anorexia. She captioned the photo, '2017. The first photo I had taken when I was moved to a private room. This was when I had gained 5-6 kilos. You never know what someone is going through...'
At that time, Derici had experienced a collapse of her immune system due to weight loss and had been treated in intensive care.
