Influencer Merve Taşkın, who has faced numerous investigations due to her social media posts and recently announced that she had left Turkey, has made a new statement from abroad following the arrest warrant issued against her.
Describing herself as innocent, Taşkın argued that if she were to return to Turkey, her statement should be taken and she should be released.
"IF I WERE GUILTY, I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN FREE FOR YEARS"
Reacting to the judicial process via her social media account, Taşkın used the following expressions:
"I don't know how much you believe it or not, but I am not guilty. Even if I returned to my country, if there is a real justice system, they should take my statement and release me again, because I have no crime."
Stating that she has faced similar processes for years, Taşkın added that she is tired of constantly giving statements.
Taşkın also said the following in her post:
"I don't know how much you believe it or not, but I am not guilty. Even if I returned to my country, if there is a real justice system, they should still take my statement and release me again, because I have no crime. So, there is no problem. I am just tired of Turkey. It is exhausting to regularly give statements for no reason.
They have already been taking my statement and releasing me for years. I have already had regular court cases for years. I still do. It hasn't ended and it doesn't end.. But since you love to stone, talk trash, and judge without knowing, I know what I say is in vain.. What can I say..
Your only wish is for me not to be happy and to go to prison.. Because you are not happy yourselves, you want to darken the lives of people who try to be happy.. God knows and sees everything. I trust in God, there is nothing else I can say.."
THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES OF THE DECISION TO LEAVE TURKEY
Taşkın explained that the intense psychological pressure she experienced was behind her decision to leave Turkey. In a previous post, she had expressed that she could not sleep at night, lived in fear of the police every time the doorbell rang, and slept prepared for a possible detention.
Stating that she could no longer continue this situation, Taşkın had announced that she bought herself a one-way ticket abroad on her birthday.
"I AM TIRED, I AM EXHAUSTED"
Expressing that the process had worn her down psychologically, Taşkın summarized her process of leaving Turkey with the words, "I realized that I could not spend my days like this. Not trying at all and becoming more exhausted with each passing day made me feel bad."
HARSH REACTION TO CRITICISM
Breaking her silence from abroad, Taşkın also reacted to the criticisms directed at her. She expressed her resentment toward the public reaction by saying, "You love to stone, talk trash, and judge without knowing. Your only wish is for me not to be happy and to go to prison."
"I TRUST IN GOD"
Emphasizing her faith at the end of her statement, Taşkın used the expressions, "God knows and sees everything. I trust in God, there is nothing else I can say."
