Temperature in Marmara drops to 9 degrees: Snow begins in Istanbul
Following the heavy rainfall affecting the Marmara region, temperatures are dropping rapidly. The cold wave starting today will sweep across all of Turkey. Snowfall, which is expected to reach Istanbul, is drawing attention alongside critical warnings issued for Friday.

Cold air coming from the Balkans will lead to snowfall in the northern parts of Turkey. The cold air, which began to show its effect in the Marmara region today, will cause temperatures to drop rapidly across the entire country starting tomorrow.
TEMPERATURES WILL DROP
The weather has cooled rapidly in Marmara due to the effect of the northeasterly wind, with temperatures dropping to 9-10 degrees in many locations. The rain, which continued until noon in Istanbul and Bursa, will weaken in the afternoon.
The temperature is expected to drop to 12 degrees in Istanbul and 14 degrees in Bursa. On Friday, the temperature in Istanbul is expected to fall to 8 degrees.
In Ankara, intermittent rain will be effective, and the temperature will drop to 11 degrees on Wednesday and 3 degrees on Friday.
On Thursday, the weather in Istanbul, Ankara, and Bursa will be overcast, lightly rainy, and quite cold. Istanbul will see 10 degrees, Bursa 11 degrees, and Ankara 6 degrees. In Izmir, sunny weather will prevail, but the temperature will drop to 16 degrees due to the cold wind. In Antalya, partly cloudy weather is expected, and the temperature will reach 6 degrees.
SNOW HAS REACHED THE BORDERS OF ISTANBUL
The Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) has released its latest weather forecast report. The report notes that cold and rainy weather will be effective across a large part of the country. After nighttime hours, it is estimated that the higher inner parts of the Western Black Sea region, which borders Istanbul, will experience sleet and snowfall. It is thought that the snow, which has reached the borders of Marmara, could also be effective in the vicinity of Istanbul.

According to the latest forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, partly to very cloudy weather is expected across the country. It is estimated that Marmara, the Aegean, the Western Mediterranean, the north and west of Central Anatolia, and the Western and Central Black Sea regions will receive rain and showers. The precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the south and east of Marmara, the North and Coastal Aegean, and the Western Black Sea. In the eastern parts of our country, icing, frost, haze, and occasional fog are expected.
