A story like a movie in Gaziantep! He learned that the sister he buried was alive: He couldn't take her home because she is listed as 'deceased' in records

Abdurrahman Ceyran, who lives in Gaziantep, placed his sister Sariye Ceyran in a nursing home in the city in 2020.

Ceyran, who visited his sister and met her needs, was informed in 2023 that the nursing home would be closing and that his sister would be transferred to another facility in the city.

HE BURIED THE BODY ON JUNE 19

Ceyran, who lost track of his sister when the nursing home closed, received information from Istanbul on June 18 that his sister had passed away. Ceyran buried the body in Şanlıurfa on June 19.

SHE APPEARS AS 'DECEASED' IN POPULATION RECORDS...

Ceyran, who was grieving the loss of his sister, learned a short while ago through a phone call from a nursing home in the Yavuzeli district of Gaziantep that Sariye Ceyran was alive.

Ceyran, who went to the nursing home in astonishment and reunited with his sister, wanted to take 79-year-old Sariye Ceyran out of the facility but could not achieve his goal because she appears as "deceased" in population records.

HE APPLIED TO THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

Wanting to prove that his sister is alive, Ceyran applied to the prosecutor's office through his lawyer to have the matter investigated and to reach the real family of the person he buried.

"I WENT TO SEE MY SISTER TO PAY MY LAST RESPECTS, IT FELT A BIT DIFFERENT THERE"

Abdurrahman Ceyran stated that after his wife passed away, their lives became difficult, and with the suggestion of those around him, he placed his sister in a nursing home in the city in 2020 to provide her with a better life.

Explaining that he constantly visited his sister at the nursing home and met her needs, Ceyran stated that he was told last year that the nursing home would be closed and his sister would be transferred elsewhere.

Stating that he signed the necessary documents, Ceyran said:

"I waited for a while, but no news came. I went to check from time to time, but I couldn't find her. I asked a few places, I couldn't find her. Shortly after, the nursing home was closed, and no one could be reached to talk to. I waited for them to call me, but they didn't. On the second day of the last Eid al-Adha, a friend from the village called and said my sister had died. He gave me the number of the person who called him. I spoke with the official. They told me her mother's name, father's name, and ID number, and said she had died. They said, 'Come and take your funeral.' I told my children, and they went and told me, 'Father, they put the body in the coffin and they won't let us look.' We took the body from Istanbul and brought it to Gaziantep. The washing procedures were done at Yeşilkent Cemetery. I went to see my sister to pay my last respects; only her eyes and nose were visible. Actually, it felt a bit different to me there, and I told my friends, but they said to me, 'If she died a while ago, you can't recognize her, she aged, and you haven't seen her for a long time, it's normal.' Honestly, with that shock, I didn't dwell on it, it sounded logical. Upon this, we took the body to the Suruç district of Şanlıurfa and buried it."

"THEY TOLD ME 'YOUR SISTER IS ALIVE AND WITH ME', I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT"

Ceyran stated that after burying his sister, they began accepting condolences and kept the condolence house open for 3 days.

Expressing that they faced a new shock while they were coming to terms with his sister's absence, Ceyran noted the following:

"A number called me on September 9. They asked for my name, they asked for my mother's name. They asked, 'Who is Sariye Ceyran to you?' I said she was my sister and that she had died. They told me, 'Your sister is alive and with me.' I couldn't believe it and told them to send me a photo. The photo arrived, and I took my lawyer and 4 friends with me and went. I said, 'Why didn't you inform me earlier?' They said, 'We couldn't find your phone number.' They said my sister has appeared as dead for 3 months and they couldn't process her at the hospital. We applied to the prosecutor's office, and they said the situation could be corrected.

We accepted condolences for 3 days, we had a mevlid read. Everyone offered their condolences to me, but 3 months later I learned my sister was alive. I was very happy to see my sister again. I am happy, but I want to end this incident. I love my sister and we want to take her back with us."

HE DOES NOT KNOW WHO THE PERSON HE BURIED IS

Ceyran noted that he could not learn who the person he buried thinking it was his sister was, and that he wants this to be identified as well.
