Halil Ergün's confession about Türkan Şoray: 'I hope one day...'

Halil Ergün, known for his role as Ali Rıza Bey in the series "Yaprak Dökümü" (The Fall of Leaves) which left its mark on the era it was broadcast, has met with audiences in theaters after a long hiatus with the film "Dedemin Gözyaşları".

In the film, which was released today, Ergün portrays a grandfather struggling to keep his sick grandchild alive.

The 78-year-old artist, who has left half a century behind in his artistic career, provided information about his series and film work in a statement.

Stating that "Dedemin Gözyaşları" is his 81st feature film, Ergün said, "Every film is actually an excitement. You build a new world with the director, the screenwriter, and the cast. It is impossible not to be excited by this. 'Dedemin Gözyaşları' is also a very sensitive subject for Turkey. It is a film that deals with the issue of children and grandchildren. That's why I find this film exciting as well."

"I PLAYED WITH PLEASURE"

Saying that he had been involved in theater for a long time since his university years, Ergün used the expression, "I was tired for a while; after quite a few series, I hadn't said 'yes' to a film project. The director convinced me for this film. I played with pleasure."

Halil Ergün expressed that he had watched the film and liked it very much, noting the following:

"Despite everything, one should not lose hope in life. Resisting, moving towards the good, and loving life are important. This film gave me that. Because there are losses in the film, and the will of someone you have lost becomes very decisive in your life. The film begins with the will, 'My child, I entrust you to you.'"

Stating that the shooting process was enjoyable, the artist said, "In the film, you have lost your son, your wife is gone, you are alone with a grandchild, and you have tied your life to them. But at an unexpected moment, another illness emerges. Besides being a man of advanced age with a grandchild entrusted to him, the fact that he has entered a certain danger for the son he lost in an accident is very striking. You see these in the film and you are affected. I don't think we played badly either. The director also shot the film well."

"I WANT TO DO THEATER VERY MUCH BUT I AM AFRAID I CANNOT CARRY IT"

The successful actor, who also stars in the series "Güzel Aşklar Diyarı" (Land of Beautiful Loves) starting on September 23 on Kanal D, gave the following information about the series:

"We are currently shooting the 3rd episode. I hope it will be a good series. I have grandchildren in the series again. My wife has died. I have raised my grandchildren with my son and daughter-in-law. Mahsun Kırmızıgül convinced me for this series. I find him successful. We have actually done enough series. I was tired. But I liked the project. I also love Cappadocia very much. It is a place where I have shot many films. I don't think anyone who hasn't traveled or seen Cappadocia should say 'I am an Anatolian.' It is a different place, you have to see it."

The master actor said that he could take part in cinema if there is a project that impresses him, evaluating, "I want to do theater very much, but I am afraid that I cannot carry it. They bring a theater offer every year, but theater is a very difficult job. It has tours."

TÜRKAN ŞORAY CONFESSION

Emphasizing that he loves and values Fatma Girik and Türkan Şoray very much in cinema, the artist continued his words as follows:

"We shot a film with the late Fatma Girik. Whenever I talk to Ms. Türkan, I say, 'When will we have a film?' Honestly, it never coincided. She is also very tired, of course. I hope one day it coincides and we make a middle-aged love film together."

Halil Ergün also expressed that he now wants to return to nature, saying, "I want to do farming on my land. I am the child of a farming family, I am from İznik. I have trees, olive groves. Actually, I have never broken away from nature. I have never left my town either. I am a child of a 500-year-old family in İznik."
