Hopscotch drawn in front of kiosk takes everyone back to their childhood

Baykal, the owner of a kiosk on Gazi Mustafa Kemal Boulevard in the Osmaniye neighborhood of Mersin's Toroslar district, drew a hopscotch game in front of his shop, which is located in a busy part of the city.

The game lines on the ground, which began to attract the attention of everyone from children to the elderly over time, took those who played back to their childhood.

Baykal, who offers chocolate to children who complete the game, has also received praise for his social media posts featuring security camera footage of passersby playing hopscotch.

'PEOPLE WERE PASSING BY THE SHOP WITH COLD FACES'

Kahraman Baykal told reporters that he is experiencing the joy of being able to make people happy.

Explaining how the idea came about, Baykal said, "This idea came to me while people were passing by the shop with cold faces. I thought about how I could make people smile. As someone who values spirituality, I wanted to draw a hopscotch game. The elderly, the young, the small, the big, everyone started passing by playing that hopscotch. Their faces lit up this way. We became a part of that happiness."

Stating that there are people who see it from neighboring provinces and stop by his kiosk while passing through Mersin, Baykal spoke as follows:

'THERE IS A CHILDLIKE SPIRIT INSIDE EVERYONE'

"People now pass by the shop with smiling faces, greeting and beaming. We really like this. Yesterday morning, an older gentleman came by. His grandchild had played hopscotch here. He couldn't stop telling his grandfather about it. He stopped his car while passing by here. He thanked me. Our aunts and uncles aged 60-70 come by. Regardless of age, there is that childlike spirit inside everyone. We brought that out."

18-year-old Kardelen Kuşçuoğlu, who played hopscotch while passing by the shop, said, "I haven't seen it anywhere else before. It was a very thoughtful idea. While there are people walking around unhappy, with a tiny gesture, he can make people happy and make them smile during the day. It's a very beautiful idea. It is an attempt to show that everything is not actually about material things."
