Artist Hülya Yiğitalp's son Yiğit Tokbey, who worked as a senior launch engineer at SpaceX, lost his life in a traffic accident while riding a motorcycle in the US state of California on January 19.
A funeral ceremony was held for Yiğit Tokbey at the Kabasakal Cemetery in the Çukurova district of Adana.
Hülya Yiğitalp, who has been deeply saddened by the loss of her son, remembered Tokbey on his birthday.
'MY WING IS BROKEN...'
Hülya Yiğitalp, who traveled to Adana to visit her son's grave on his birthday, included the following statements in a message she published under the title "Letters to my son":
"My dear child Yiğit, today is your birthday. The day you were born, I was reborn, and this rebirth was repeated with your siblings. Today, we are 32... I am setting off to board the plane shortly. To visit you in your flowery garden, to hug you there, to celebrate your birthday. This photo of you is everywhere with me... Because we are eye to eye, you are looking directly at me. I wanted to save that beautiful gaze of yours, and I took a screenshot while we were video chatting on December 17, 2023... Not knowing that you would suddenly leave a month later, not knowing that we would never be able to look into each other's eyes again...
My wing is broken, but I can fly... We are wing to wing, hand in hand with your siblings. We are always talking about you, you are always in our thoughts, in our dreams, we know you are with us. Happy birthday, my child. I love you, we love you, forever... It is raining in Istanbul today, we are crying."
