IMM announces: Tulip Festival has begun in Istanbul

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Department of Parks, Gardens, and Green Areas has decorated the city's historic landmarks with colorful tulips, just as it does every year.

Emirgan Grove, Gülhane Grove, Sultanahmet Square, Göztepe 60th Year Park, and Hidiv Grove have been planted with a total of 7 million 962 thousand 701 bulbous flowers, including 158 varieties of tulip bulbs, 7 varieties of hyacinth bulbs, 8 varieties of daffodil bulbs, and muscari bulbs.

CONCERTS WILL BE HELD

The Tulip Festival will be celebrated with colorful events throughout the month of April. The IMM Department of Culture will organize children's shows, workshops, street art performances, and concerts. On April 6 and 7 at 14:00, the IMM Directorate of Orchestras will perform concerts at Emirgan Grove, Gülhane Grove, and Göztepe 60th Year Park.

The 1,000 tulip bulbs gifted to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality by the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Istanbul, Arjen Uijterlinde, on November 4, 2021, were planted in Istanbul Square in Emirgan Grove on December 3, 2021, and met with Istanbul residents in April 2022.

The planting and exhibition of the Istanbul Tulip, which was brought back to its homeland of Istanbul after centuries, will continue at the same location starting from 2021.
