Individual who harassed Derya Uluğ arrested

Derya Uluğ announced in a statement on her social media account that Ş.T., who had been threatening her and her partner Asil Gök, has been arrested. Uluğ had previously stated that this individual had come to her concert in İzmir, causing distress to both her and the audience.

Uluğ had shared the fearful moments she experienced with these words: 'Tonight, I performed the most difficult show of my life. The individual who has been threatening and harassing Asil and me for 1.5 years, who has come to our home repeatedly, who is under judicial supervision by court order following our complaints, who wears an electronic tag, who has a restraining order, and who has a prison sentence pending confirmation, came to my stage in İzmir today and got right up to us. I completed the concert with my hands and feet trembling, in fear, so as not to disturb the people who were having fun. Despite all these decisions taken, we do not feel safe because of this individual who still manages to get right up to us. This person is not normal. I do not want to remain silent and afraid anymore!'

'JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED'

Following the arrest of Ş.T., Uluğ's lawyer stated that justice had been served. In her social media post, Uluğ also expressed, 'Today, justice has been served for us. While this decision creates a sense of security for us, I want this justice to reach all women who cannot make their voices heard, who cannot be protected, and who are taken from life. In this country, no woman should be the protagonist of a story that begins with a "request for protection" and ends with "news of death."'
