Jane Birkin's bag sold for a record price

A special bag belonging to British artist Jane Birkin, produced by Hermes, was sold for 2.86 million dollars at an auction held in Abu Dhabi. The auction, organized by Sotheby’s, lasted only 11 minutes, and the bag went to a buyer who wished to remain anonymous.

This special model, which was gifted to Jane Birkin in 2003, was previously estimated to be worth between 230 and 430 thousand dollars. However, as a result of fierce competition among six collectors at the auction, it reached a price six times higher than expected.

Inside the bag is a note written in Jane Birkin's own handwriting that reads, "My Birkin bag, my travel companion that has traveled the world." The famous artist had previously contributed to social responsibility projects by selling her bags for charity.
