Journalist and author Üstün İnanç has passed away
Renowned author Üstün İnanç passed away this morning at the hospital where he was receiving treatment in Istanbul.

Journalist, author, and screenwriter Üstün İnanç has passed away at the age of 87.
Inanç's son, Ertuğrul İnanç, stated in a comment to an AA reporter that his father died at a private hospital in Istanbul, saying, "May he rest in peace. He lived a beautiful life. He left us with a relatively peaceful death."
The 87-year-old writer will be laid to rest in the family cemetery in Eyüp Sultan following the funeral prayer to be held at Fatih Mosque tomorrow during the afternoon (ikindi) prayer time.
WHO IS ÜSTÜN İNANÇ?
He was born in Istanbul in 1937 and completed his primary education outside of Istanbul. He graduated from the School of Press, Broadcasting, and Journalism. His first writings were published in the magazines Yelken, Durum, Sanatkar, and Büyük Doğu. He began working as an intern reporter at the newspaper Tercüman in 1956.
He worked at the newspapers Babıali'de Sabah, Bugün, Son Havadis, Tercüman, Zaman, and Yeni İstanbul. Üstün İnanç's theatrical works, such as Kurt Kapanı, İlk Kurşun, İbrahim Müteferrika, Ömer Seyfettin (cancağızım), İktisap Ağası, Bir Gül Koşusu (Fetih), and the film of the same name adapted from his novel Yalnız Değilsiniz by director Mesut Uçakan, attracted great attention.
Having worked as a dramaturg at TGRT for a period, Üstün İnanç was also the screenwriter for the film Kanayan Yara Bosna. The artist, who served as the founding director of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Performing Arts Center, also taught writing courses at the same institution.
