Journalist Mehmet Sümer reacted to his colleagues in a post on the X platform. Stating that journalists are traveling with "business class" plane tickets, Sümer said, "I have been in the media for nearly 30 years. I have made countless trips for work. I have been to around 60 cities in the world at the very least. But to this day, no domestic or foreign institution I have worked for has ever bought me a Business Class plane ticket for my travels."
Sumer continued his post by stating the following:
"Lately, I have been paying attention to the anchors/reporters working in the media in Turkey; wherever they go, they fly Business Class (we see it because most of them flaunt it). Do media institutions in Turkey care this much about the comfort of their employees? Or do our colleagues earn enough to upgrade themselves to Business everywhere they go (I hope that is the case:)? Or does Turkish Airlines (THY) offer such a privilege to some media employees? I would be glad if those who know could enlighten me:)"
