Famous fashion designer and DJ Kemal Doğulu appeared in court over allegations of threatening and insulting his former manager, Tolga Ö., on social media.
Kemal Doğulu, who had an arrest warrant issued against him for failing to complete his statement procedures, arrived at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan under police escort.
The non-custodial defendant, Kemal Doğulu, was present at the hearing held at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance.
'I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE INSIDE OF A COURTHOUSE BEFORE'
In his defense during the hearing, Doğulu said, "First of all, even though I am in this industry, I have never seen the inside of a courthouse before. That is why I thought my statement procedures were finished, but that was not the case. It turns out I needed to provide a statement."
'LOAN SHARKS HELD A GUN TO MY HEAD'
Stating that he accepted the charges brought against him, Doğulu said, "I am the one who made the post in question. The individual who managed me for a period of time defrauded me. I heard that, besides me, he also defrauded my sponsor and my friends in the beauty pageant. Because I was defrauded and continued to work in the industry, I became angry due to his actions against me. Because of him, loan sharks raided my shop; the loan sharks held a gun to my head.
I did not file a complaint so that there would be no scandal inside the shop and so that the incident would not be heard of or dragged out since it happened in my shop, but I became angry because of these events and wrote these words in a moment of rage. I threatened to put his photo on social media, and I did. I accept the accusation. I regret the words I wrote. If he withdraws his complaint, I will not file a complaint for fraud because I am a victim due to these events," he said.
Following the statement procedures, the hearing was adjourned, and Doğulu left the courthouse.
