The series 'Kızılcık Şerbeti', broadcast on Show TV, has become the center of controversy in its new season due to a storyline involving an illicit family affair. RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin announced that action would be taken regarding the series.
DETENTION OF GÖNTEM
During this very process, statements made by Merve Göntem, one of the show's screenwriters, regarding a character in the 2021 series 'Çıplak' (Naked), which she also wrote, were circulated on social media. Following these posts, Göntem was taken into custody yesterday evening.
Merve Göntem's lawyer, Giray Kemer, stated in a press release following the detention that his client was being subjected to a social media lynching. Kemer said, "My client Merve Göntem was taken from her home and brought to the Vatan Police Headquarters in connection with the social media lynching campaign conducted against her for the past few days."
The lawyer argued that Göntem's words were taken out of context and circulated, thereby creating a false perception in the public eye. He further stated that his client had become the target of a systematic lynching campaign.
RELEASED
After completing procedures at the police station, Göntem was brought to the Anatolian Courthouse today, where her statement was taken by the prosecutor's office. Subsequently, she was referred to the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace, which decided to release her under judicial control measures.
