MGD General Assembly held: New president is Bülent Makar

Following the elections where incumbent President Okan Alkan Sarıkaya and Bülent Makar competed, MGD members elected Bülent Makar as their new President.

The 14th Ordinary General Assembly of the Magazine Journalists Association (MGD) was held today at the Yenibirlik Newspaper office.

The General Assembly, which saw a very high turnout, elected Nurcan Sabur as the Chair of the Assembly, Savaş Kalafat as Deputy Chair, and Neslihan Cansu and Mahmut Ali Özyön as secretaries.

The management and audit activity reports read by President Okan Alkan Sarıkaya were approved by the votes of the General Assembly members. A total of 102 members cast their votes in the presidential race, which took place in a democratic environment.

While incumbent president Okan Alkan Sarıkaya received 41 votes, Bülent Makar, who set out with the slogan of bringing a new vision and new goals to the association's management, received 62 votes and was elected as the new president of the Magazine Journalists Association.

Bülent Makar, who was elected President by the appreciation of the General Assembly members, was first congratulated by his rival, Okan Alkan Sarıkaya.

Bülent Makar, who was elected the 5th President of the MGD, which has achieved significant success over its 34-year history, included both journalists who have made significant contributions to magazine journalism and veteran names of the profession on his list.
