Ministry of Justice statement on Mükremin Gezgin: Reports about male ward are not true
Social media influencer Mükremin Gezgin, who was detained as part of a drug investigation targeting celebrities, has been arrested on charges of "facilitating the use of drugs" and "encouraging or facilitating prostitution or providing a venue for it." Reports had circulated claiming that Gezgin was placed in a ward with men.

Yeni Şafak reporter Burak Doğan claimed that Gezgin was placed in a ward with men at Metris Prison.
Journalist Barış Terkoğlu, who stated that he spoke with Ministry of Justice officials and that the claim was not true, used the following expressions in his post on the subject:
“I asked the Ministry of Justice about the claim below by the Yeni Şafak reporter. The response I received is as follows: 'If the arrested individual is a transvestite, they are generally placed in a ward for transvestites, or in a single-person cell in special cases. Mükremin Gezgin was placed in a single-person section.
The information that he was placed in a men's ward is not true.' This is the correct approach as well… Just as it is outside, the priority for detainees and convicts in prison should be treatment worthy of human dignity.
Regardless of who the person is or what the accusation is, thinking otherwise would lead the country in a different direction.“
