A new face after 49 surgeries: She regained her face 20 years later

Buse Kamalı, a 22-year-old living in Bursa, suffered severe burns to her face and most of her body in a house fire when she was 2 years old.

Clinging to life with the support of her family, Buse has undergone 49 surgeries over the past 20 years.

According to the report by Sabah, her father İlhan Kamalı, who works at a factory, took leave from his workplace to help his little girl gain a new face and a new life. The factory owners and his colleagues also supported İlhan Kamalı.

Support poured in for the Kamalı family, who mobilized for their little daughter. The plight of little Buse, which received widespread attention in the country, also caught the attention of Akdeniz University. A new hope dawned for the Kamalı family as they headed to Akdeniz University, where the first face transplant in Turkey was performed. Despite her young age, Buse underwent a series of operations there. The Kamalı family continued to knock on the doors of expert doctors in the field.

49 SURGERIES IN 20 YEARS

Father İlhan Kamalı, his housewife wife Akile Kamalı, and their older daughters continued their struggle tirelessly to give Buse a new life. Buse Kamalı, who underwent skin grafts, ear, and nose surgeries at various hospitals in Turkey, had to wait for her to grow older for some of the more difficult surgeries. As she grew older, the difficulty level of the surgeries increased. However, Buse and her family did not give up. Buse has had a total of 49 surgeries over the past 20 years. Having gotten rid of most of the burn scars on her body, Buse has now regained a brand-new face.

UNIVERSITY GRADUATE

Buse Kamalı, who fought a long and very difficult battle, did not neglect her education during the process while her treatments and surgeries continued. She graduated from the university she attended in İzmir. Buse Kamalı, who has gained a new life with her new face, said, "I would like to thank everyone who supported me in my 20-year-long difficult struggle, especially my family, all the benevolent citizens, and all my doctors."
