Nobel Prize-winning author Alice Munro has passed away

Nobel Prize-winning Canadian author Alice Munro has passed away at the age of 92.

Kristin Cochrane, CEO of the publishing house McClelland & Stewart, stated that Munro died at her home in Ontario. Cochrane said, "She was an inspiration to countless writers and her works have left an indelible mark on our literary world."

The Globe and Mail newspaper, citing family members, reported that Munro, who had been suffering from dementia for 10 years, passed away on Monday.

'CAPTIVATED HEARTS'

Canadian Minister of Canadian Heritage Pascale St-Onge stated in a post on her social media account, "Alice Munro was a Canadian literary icon. For 60 years, she captivated hearts in Canada and around the world with her stories."

Alice Munro, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2013, was described as the "master of the contemporary short story."
