A tradesman who has been in the fabric business for 30 years in Samsun announced that he is not a candidate for neighborhood headman (muhtar) with an interesting poster.

Alaattin Atıcı, who works in the Unkapanı neighborhood of the İlkadım district, is drawing attention with the posters he has put up in the area. In an environment where there are posters for many candidates for neighborhood headman, Atıcı, who posted signs on electrical panels and his shop reading, "I am (not) a candidate for Unkapanı neighborhood headman; don't ask why, don't tire your head," stated that he aimed to bring a smile to people's faces.

Atıcı said, "I really wanted to be a headman, but it wasn't possible due to the intensity of my work. By stating that I am not a candidate, I both made myself happy and wanted to ensure that people had a little fun and felt happy. If I were a headman, I would have come not to receive a salary, but to help those in need. I also wouldn't use a gun, because I am against guns. Considering that a headman receives 1 million 700 thousand TL in salary over 5 years, all of this money would have been distributed to those in need. By writing 'I am (not) a candidate for Unkapanı neighborhood headman; don't ask why, don't tire your head,' I made people think I was a candidate. Those who read it understand the joke and laugh.
