Paul Auster has passed away
The world-renowned author of 'The New York Trilogy', Paul Auster, has passed away at the age of 77. The author had been undergoing cancer treatment for some time.
Paul Auster, known for works such as The New York Trilogy, Sunset Park, The Brooklyn Follies, and In the Country of Last Things, has passed away.
Auster's death at his home in Brooklyn was confirmed by his friend Jacki Lyden.
The cancer diagnosis given to Auster was first announced last year by his wife and fellow author Siri Hustvedt.
WHO IS PAUL AUSTER?
Paul Auster was born in New York in 1947. He studied English, French, and Italian literature at Columbia University. He brought a new perspective, a new starting point, and a brand-new interpretation to existentialist philosophy.
The first work in which he pioneered this "post-existentialist" movement is the first book of a trilogy, 'The New York Trilogy', titled "City of Glass". The other books in the trilogy are "Ghosts" and "The Locked Room". The works of the Jewish-American author have been translated into more than 20 languages, and he quickly became one of the "must-read" authors.
Auster's major works include The Invention of Solitude, The Book of Illusions, The Red Notebook, Leviathan, Oracle Night, Smoke, Invisible, The Brooklyn Follies, Travels in the Scriptorium, and Man in the Dark.
