A mother of two, Karahan said, "When I became a mother, I realized that this is a different feeling. After becoming a mother, even playing the role of a mother is completely different. Compassion, sadness, the racing of your heart—everything is felt much more intensely. For example, my mother is my everything. I don't know what I would do without her. We are like sisters."

Discussing the difficulties of growing up without a father, Karahan added, "Growing up without a father in Turkey is difficult. I built a shield for myself. I have always kept a distance from life. Sometimes I saw more pros than cons to this distance."
