Pınar Eczacıbaşı has passed away

Pınar Eczacıbaşı, one of the prominent figures in the Turkish business world, has passed away.

The passing of Eczacıbaşı, who held significant roles as a member of the High Advisory Board of the Young Managers and Business People Association (GYİAD) and as the founding president of the Turkey-Luxembourg Business Council, has caused deep sorrow in the business and civil society communities.

FUNERAL PROGRAM

The funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 8, at Zincirlikuyu Mosque following the noon prayer, and she will be laid to rest at the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.

The family has requested that donations be made to the Turkish Education Foundation (0 212 318 68 00) instead of sending wreaths.

WHO IS PINAR ECZACIBAŞI?

Pınar Eczacıbaşı began her education at the Istanbul Fevziye Schools Foundation – Işık High School. She continued her university education at the University of New Hampshire, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemistry in the USA. After graduating, she returned to Turkey and completed her master's degree (MBA) in Finance at Boğaziçi University. Her master's thesis topic was on 'The contributions of family companies to capital markets through going public.'

Pınar Eczacıbaşı began her professional career in the Sales and Marketing Department at Eczacıbaşı İlaç San. ve Tic. A.Ş. within the Eczacıbaşı Group. She continued her career in the finance sector, working in the credit-marketing department at Manufacturers’ Hanover Trust Company-Istanbul, and later served as the Correspondent Relations Department Manager at Tekstilbank and as Deputy General Manager responsible for marketing to financial institutions at ING Bank N.V. Barings-Istanbul. Providing finance and investment consultancy services to individuals and organizations since 1998, Pınar Eczacıbaşı founded GP-Trust Financial Management and Consultancy Ltd. Co. in 2004. The company provides consultancy services to individuals and institutions wishing to invest in Turkey by conducting market research and assisting with their investments and partnership structuring. The company also served as the Turkey representative for Schroder & Co Banque SA, part of the Schroders Group, one of the world's largest investment and financial institutions, between 2004 and 2014.

Pınar Eczacıbaşı served as the Strategic Network President of the IVCI (Istanbul Venture Capital Initiative), which is advised by the European Investment Fund under the European Investment Bank, and is currently an independent member of the Investment Committee of the TGIF (Turkey Growth and Innovation Fund) within the same structure. Pınar Eczacıbaşı is a member of the High Advisory Board of the Young Managers and Business People Association (GYİAD), one of Turkey's leading civil society organizations, and the founding President of the Turkey-Luxembourg Business Council established under the DEİK-Foreign Economic Relations Board.

She has held the positions of Audit Board Chair and Europe Region Vice President within DEİK. During her tenure as President of the Turkish-Belgian Business Council at DEİK, she was awarded the highest-ranking Belgian decoration by King Philippe of Belgium in 2012 for her contributions to relations between the two countries, and has also been appointed as a 'Diplomatic Economic Advisor' in Turkey by the Belgian Government since 2013. She is also a member of the Finance Club and a founding member of the Foundation for the Protection of Important Historical Works in Istanbul.
