Bağdaçiçek was detained on December 7 due to complaints regarding a video she shared on social media and was released after giving her statement to the prosecutor's office.

The indictment prepared by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Press Crimes Investigation Bureau, stated that it was determined that the social media account subject to the complaint belonged to Gizem Bağdaçiçek. It was noted that an instruction was issued to take the statement of the suspect Gizem Bağdaçiçek, but an arrest warrant was issued because she could not be reached.

'I HAD NO ILL INTENT'

Brought to the Anatolian Courthouse in Kartal following the arrest warrant, Gizem Bağdaçiçek said in her statement, "The social media account you showed me belongs to me. I made the posts in question. However, I had no ill intent."

'IT DOES NOT BELONG TO ME'

Stating that some of the words she shared did not belong to her and that she had no intention of insulting the religion of Islam, Bağdaçiçek said, "I made posts on social media for humorous purposes. I regret these posts. Also, the second social media account you showed me in the file does not belong to me. It is an account opened in my name using my photo."

UP TO 1 YEAR AND 9 MONTHS IN PRISON REQUESTED

In the indictment, it was assessed that the posts made by the suspect from her social media account were of a nature to publicly insult the religion of Islam and religious values, and that the posts in question were capable of disturbing public peace.

The indictment requested that Gizem Bağdaçiçek be sentenced to 6 months to 1 year and 9 months in prison for the crime of "publicly insulting the religious values adopted by a section of the public in a chain manner."
