Rising costs in recent times continue to challenge the television world. While many productions are bidding farewell to the screen, some projects are being cancelled before they even begin. "Çiçekler Açar," which was touted as one of the most ambitious productions of the new season, has met this same fate. A final decision has been made regarding the series, which was initially postponed to September due to declining advertising revenues for channels and economic uncertainties.
SERIES CANCELLED BEFORE BROADCAST
According to a report by journalist Birsen Altuntaş, the production, written by Şükrü Necati Şahin, the screenwriter of the series "Kızıl Goncalar," was cancelled before it could ever reach the screen. Hülya Gezer was set to sit in the director's chair for the project, which was previously announced under the title "Şapkacı Kadınlar" (Hat-Making Women). However, a different plan is now on the agenda for the big-budget period drama: an adaptation specifically for a digital platform.
NOTABLE POST FROM THE SCREENWRITER
Screenwriter Şükrü Necati Şahin increased curiosity about the project by sharing a dialogue from the series' script on his social media account. In his post, he used the phrase "AYŞE IS LOADING...", implying that the character's story has not yet been completely closed.
WHAT WAS THE PLOT OF THE SERIES ÇİÇEKLER AÇAR?
Set in 1925, the story followed the life of a peasant woman named Ayşe, covering her life as it changed with the Hat Revolution and her process of becoming an icon in the fashion world through an impressive narrative. The production, which aimed to reflect the spirit of the era, was set to present the effects of a historical transformation on an individual to the audience with a powerful dramatic narrative.
