The couple is being tried on charges of embezzlement and fraud involving approximately 150 million TL. A prison sentence of 195 years was requested for each of the defendants in the case.
Kıvanç and Beril Talu were detained at Sabiha Gökçen Airport on January 5, 2024, while returning to Istanbul from Georgia.
In response to the accusations, the couple denied the claims, arguing that "the money was borrowed, and the actual fault lies with those who provided the credit."
Evaluating the current situation, the court did not find the continuation of their detention necessary and issued a release order.
With this release decision, the trial will continue with the defendants being tried without arrest.
