The indictment, prepared on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility," describes Övüç as a "suspect who exhibits feminine mannerisms and identifies as gay."

According to a report by Furkan Karabay from Medyascope, the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office submitted the indictment to the criminal court of first instance on the 46th day of Övüç's detention.

The indictment, which does not even fill two pages, states that the investigation was launched following a post by an account with the handle "Bee Haber," which shared a video of the suspect wearing a headscarf with the caption, "Murat Övüç, wearing a headscarf, practically shoved the diamond ring on his finger into the camera."

The indictment uses the following language regarding Övüç: "The suspect, who exhibits feminine mannerisms and identifies as gay, mocked the headscarf, which is one of the important requirements of the Islamic religion; because the suspect is a well-known person, the post reached large audiences, creating a clear and imminent danger in terms of damaging social peace and disrupting public order."

The prosecution, claiming that Övüç committed the alleged crime by publicly inciting one segment of the public against another, requested a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years for "publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility."

A statement has been released by the lawyer of Murat Övüç, who has been in prison for approximately two months. The statement from lawyer Çağdaş Çelik is as follows:

"Despite there being no expected documents, evidence, or statements, the indictment for my client Murat Övüç is persistently not being written, and his detention continues unlawfully. I suppose they are looking for a legal article for the crime they are trying to fabricate! Play on, play on, keep playing with the scales of justice a little more!"
