According to a report by Sabah newspaper, famous actor Sarp Apak has taken his tenant, who resides in his luxury apartment in Istanbul's Sarıyer district, to court due to a disagreement over rent. Sarp Apak headed to court, stating that the rent paid by his tenant of 14 years is too low.
TOOK THE MATTER TO COURT AFTER FAILING TO AGREE ON RENT
Renting out his home in 2010, Sarp Apak agreed on a rent of 3 thousand liras with his tenant. Especially as the increase in housing sales over the last two years was reflected in rents, the famous actor decided to raise the rent for his tenant. However, when the tenant living in the house did not accept the requested increase, the parties ended up in court. In the petition he submitted to the Civil Court of Peace through his lawyer, Sarp Apak stated that his tenant was paying rent far below the market rate for the location and therefore requested that the court determine the rent.

Pointing out that the apartment in question is located within a complex in a part of Sarıyer considered luxury, Sarp Apak stated that their research showed similar apartments are rented for an average of 45 - 65 thousand liras, but his tenant pays him 12 thousand 500 liras. Noting that his apartment, which is among the most beautiful complexes in the region, includes privileges such as a sports complex and parking, the actor stated that the necessity for a rent increase arose with the rise in inflation.
EXPERT TO DETERMINE THE RENT
In the remainder of the petition, Sarp Apak stated that they conducted research on the fair market rent in the region, noting that his tenant last paid 10 thousand liras in 2022, and that he had requested this amount be increased to 35 thousand liras through a notary warning, but the tenant deposited a rent of 12 thousand 500 liras. For this reason, the famous actor requested that the court determine the rent and resolve the issue. The court decided to appoint an expert to the file to determine the fair market value for the rent assessment.
