Ayten Gökçer, one of the doyennes of Turkish theater, has passed away in Istanbul.

Gökçer's funeral will be laid to rest in Istanbul at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery next to her husband Cüneyt Gökçer following the noon prayer on Wednesday, May 15.

'WE LOVED YOU SO MUCH...'

Ayten Gökçer's daughter Aslı Gökçer stated, "Even when the illness she defied was not even in its right mind... We couldn't even convince our closest ones of her illness because her intelligence surpassed everything. Until the very end, she surprised us, made us burst into laughter, and as if that weren't enough, she gave us advice. This time, she chose to leave, to her mother whom she never let fade from her heart, to her Cüneyt... She took her Aslı, her Efe, her Yonca, her son-in-law Kerem, her Ayşen, her Cansu, and her Lal into her strong heart and left silently. We loved you so much, mother, our hearts are so broken."

The final frame of the master actress taken before she passed away has also emerged.

Aslı Gökçer had shared the pose she took with her mother with the note, "I woke up in your embrace... The scent of a mother."
