In the report titled "Who is Şimal?" published on the Yeni Şafak newspaper's website, the artist's real surname, "Gülen," was not included.
While only Şimal's first name was used in the report, the phrase 'Tebessüm Eden' (Smiling) was used in place of her surname, 'Gülen.'
This choice led to public speculation that censorship was applied due to her sharing the same surname as "Fethullah Gülen."
