Spotify to open Turkey office
Spotify is preparing to open an office in Istanbul in 2026. The company has recently been at the centre of criticism over allegations of unfair revenue sharing.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that key decisions were taken at a meeting held with Spotify, one of the pioneers of the global music industry.
Ersoy said: "We will make concrete progress in a short time to ensure that our country's music ecosystem receives the support it deserves from Spotify. The Spotify Turkey office, a significant gap that needed to be filled, is opening. Spotify, which will open an office in Istanbul in 2026, will deepen its collaborations in this field even further."
Ersoy made the following remarks in his statement:
"We will sit down with company officials and our music industry representatives to discuss what joint steps can be taken. We expect significant outcomes from the MüzikZirvesi, which we will inaugurate in Istanbul in September.
The global success of Turkish artists reached a record-breaking 2.8 billion new listeners in 2024, topping world charts.
More than half of royalty revenues now come from listeners outside Turkey.
This strong collaboration, which will also support young talents and female artists, will give new momentum to our cultural diplomacy.
We will continue to work closely with the Spotify team on these and similar steps to introduce Turkey's rich musical heritage and culture to the world."
