Statement from doctor regarding Cem Yılmaz's health status

Comedian Cem Yılmaz, who fell ill at his summer house in the Paşaköy village of Çanakkale's Ayvacık district, was rushed to the hospital with a suspected heart attack. Yılmaz, who was taken for an angiography at the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) Hospital, underwent a balloon and stent procedure.

Prof. Dr. Ercan Akşit, a faculty member of the Department of Cardiology who performed the operation, stated that Yılmaz was admitted to the hospital with a heart attack affecting the front wall of the heart. Akşit said that the artist was conscious when he arrived at the hospital and was taken to the angiography laboratory without delay.

Prof. Dr. Akşit noted that the procedure, performed through the wrist, lasted approximately 40 minutes, saying, "Mr. Cem presented to us today with a heart attack affecting the front wall of the heart. He was conscious when he arrived. We immediately took him to the angiography laboratory. We completed the procedure with a balloon and stent in about 40 minutes via the wrist. He is currently in intensive care. His condition is stable. We plan to continue his monitoring here for 2 days. I hope he will be reunited with his family in good health soon."

TO BE MONITORED FOR TWO DAYS

Responding to questions from members of the press, Akşit stated that the angiography was successful and that balloon and stent procedures were applied to the vessel involved in the heart attack. Stating that Yılmaz is resting in his bed, Akşit said that he could be discharged in two days if his condition remains stable.

Akşit also drew attention to the rapid intervention by the Ayvacık State Hospital teams and the 112 ambulance. Noting that the patient was intervened within approximately two hours, Akşit stated that this process ensured that the majority of the heart tissue was brought under control without sustaining damage.
