Steve Halliwell, the world-renowned actor known for his role as Zak Dingle in the series Emmerdale, has passed away at the age of 77.
The news of Halliwell's death was shared with the public by his family.
The statement included the following words: "He went to sleep peacefully with his loved ones around him. He will continue to make us laugh forever. He was the most wonderful father and grandfather you could ever wish for, and his family meant everything to him."
WHO IS STEVE HALLIWELL?
Steve Halliwell received his acting training at the Mountview Theatre School. Before that, he worked as an apprentice.
He appeared in TV series broadcast in the UK such as Threads, Cracker, and Coronation Street. However, it was Emmerdale that brought him fame.
The character of Zak Dingle, whom he portrayed in the series Emmerdale, was the patriarch of the Dingle family. Together with his wife Lisa Dingle, played by Jane Cox, he was part of many dramatic storylines.
In 1996, Steve Halliwell released a single titled Hillbilly Rock Hillbilly Roll. He had formed a country rock band with Alun Lewis and Billy Hartman. The band's name was The Woolpackers.
Halliwell, who took a break from the series in 2018, had undergone surgery to have a pacemaker fitted.
