Istanbul Police Department's Anti-Smuggling Crimes Branch teams received information that historical artifacts were being kept in a house in the Firuzağa neighborhood of Beyoğlu. Evaluating the tip, the teams carried out an operation on October 10.
During the search of the house, a 'Sultanate Throne' was seized, which is believed to date back to the Sultan Mehmed Reşad era and to have been used in Ottoman palaces. The throne is designed in red with gold leaf, features Westernization-era decorations, and is adorned with angel and floral motifs. While the throne, believed to date from the Young Ottoman period, was confiscated, 1 person was taken into custody. A judicial investigation has been launched against the suspect.
