"Surprise Me" exhibition meets art lovers

With the aim of listening to and observing the world of young people, creating a space that provides a breath of fresh air to viewers and art lovers amidst the rush of today's world through art, and filling the gaps with motifs from their own realities and memories, as well as their truths and lives, painter and academic Dr. Seval Özcan has brought her solo painting exhibition titled "Surprise Me" to art lovers at the Futy Art Gallery. Virtual reality glasses were also included in the exhibition. In the solo exhibition, viewers of all age groups had the opportunity to meet the works through digital glasses in turn and experience them in an interactive way.

Painter and academic Dr. Seval Özcan said, "The name of our exhibition is 'Surprise Me.' While curating this exhibition, we all know that in the hustle and bustle of today's world, amidst so much news and a very intense flow of information, we all truly need colors and art. Everyone in this country needs it—those working in corporate life, our children, and adults alike. Therefore, these are multi-layered works where we can find a lot of ourselves, which remind us of our roots, but at the same time include those unique, fertile, and healing Anatolian motifs. Since I care deeply about the art education of young people and children, I wanted to touch their souls by allowing them to be inside the work in 360 degrees through VR glasses. All visitors who come here have the chance to experience this personally by being inside the work with VR glasses in turn."

"I also produced a digital version of the 'No 1 Liberation' work"

Dr. Seval Özcan stated, "I also produced a digital version of the work titled 'No 1 Liberation,' and this digital version received a lot of attention. It was a very enjoyable project. Of course, our surprises don't end here; we continue to surprise. Our exhibition also has an interactive area. In this interactive area, on a television from the 80s, we asked the visiting audience the question, 'What surprised you last?', and we received such delightful and beautiful answers. Due to the intense interest, our exhibition has been extended until October 6. You can come until October 6 and see the finished version of the work here."

Mentioning that she has written an art book about her works, Özcan said, "I have published a book in English and Turkish in which I explain my works in great detail. Among my goals as a Turkish woman on the international platform is to exhibit my works abroad, starting with Azerbaijan in November, followed by Qatar and Dubai, and I am currently in talks to exhibit in Europe as well. I will be taking part in very good projects there."
